Flying from Goa to Delhi, this two-night, three-day tour includes a train journey to visit the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, plus a guided tour of the sites of India’s historic capital city.

Your tour to Taj Mahal, Delhi and Agra

Be prepared for an exciting few days exploring beyond Goa and visiting one of the – if not ‘the’ – world’s most famous monuments.

Day 1: You’ll fly from Goa to Delhi today. Our representative will meet you in the arrivals area at Goa airport and they’ll assist with your private transfers to your Delhi hotel, which will be your base for two nights.

Day 2: This morning you’ll take the train from Delhi railway station to Agra – that’s an experience in itself. Once a small village on the banks of the Yamuna river, it was transformed by two great Mughal monarchs into the second capital of the Mughal Empire in the 16th and 17th century.

When you arrive in Agra you’ll be met by our knowledgeable  guide who will take you to infamous Taj Mahal – the ‘world’s monument to love’.

Take the time to admire the patterns on the inner walls. Here vibrantly-coloured, jewel-like stones create beautiful designs in the white marble. The Mughals perfected the art of embedding semi-precious stones into marble and the Taj is the finest example of this special process called pietra dura.

Before you leave, take in the once-in-a-lifetime views – and don’t forget to get ‘that’ photo from what has now been dubbed ‘Princess Diana’s seat’.

The tour continues with a visit to the Agra Fort, a walled city constructed of red stone and declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983.

Also on your itinerary is a visit to the lesser-known Itmad ud Daula, also known as the Baby Taj. This tomb was built in 1622 and once again is built of dazzling, white marble, inlaid with contrasting stones.

Later, you’ll be driven back to Agra Cantt railway station, where you’ll board your train back to Delhi.

Day 3: After breakfast, it’s time to tour Old and New Delhi . You’ll visit the 17th-century Jama Masjid and enjoy a rickshaw ride through the narrow, winding lanes of colourful and bustling Chandni Chowk. Make sure you stop in front of the Mughal Empire’s most opulent fort, the Red Fort, for a photo opportunity.

You’ll them venture into New Delhi where you’ll drive past the Presidential Palace, the one-time imperial residence of the British viceroys; the India Gate, a memorial raised in honour of fallen Indian soldiers; and Parliament House.

After the tour you’ll head to Delhi airport to board your short flight back to Goa.

Two-night price from £825 per person
